10 Horror Movie Sequels That Are Practically Flawless
5. Halloween (2018)
Understanding the continuity of the Halloween is about as easy as understanding Michael Myers' facial expressions.
After the two Rob Zombie-led efforts of the late-2000s, the series lay dormant for nine years before it was picked up by director David Gordon Green.
In order to take the franchise, which had been dwindling in popularity and quality for some time, back to its roots, Green and his team brought back original Halloween director and all-round horror legend John Carpenter as an adviser. He even did the score for the film; the first time Carpenter had supplied music to the franchise since Halloween III in 1982.
As a result, 2018's Halloween is a total romp. Not only does it bring back Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode for the first time since 2002, but it also brings back the tension and excellent kills that fans of the series had missed for so long.
Curtis' performance, Green's directing, and a quintessential Carpenter score all combine to make this Halloween film an entry into the series worth celebrating.
If only they hadn't named it the same thing as the original - that would have made things a lot less confusing.
