10 Horror Movie Sequels That Are Practically Flawless
6. 28 Weeks Later
Danny Boyle's anger-fest 28 Days Later broke new ground when it was released in 2002 and helped reinvigorate the zombie horror genre. Although, if you ask Boyle, it's "not a zombie film". Sure it isn't, Danny...
Spanish filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo took on the unenviable task of making a sequel to the movie in 2007. 28 Weeks Later picks up where the first film left off, as the inhabitants of one of the safe zones struggle to contain an outbreak of the Rage Virus.
With none of the original stars returning for this film, it was facing an uphill battle from the start, but it absolutely smashed it, creating a worthy successor to Boyle's original.
The excitement and action of the first movie are matched by the sequel, which is just as character-driven and emotional as what came before it. The fast-moving zombies (or not zombies, if you're Danny Boyle) are just as scary the second time around, and the vision of a post-apocalypse London is just as chilling.
Although, depending on where in London you live, you might not recognise the difference.
