10 Horror Movie Sequels That Should Have Ended Their Series
4. Aliens
Ridley Scott's Alien is undoubtedly one of the finest horror films ever made, so you can imagine the trepidation when James Cameron announced a follow-up, especially given his background in high-octane action flicks. Against all odds though, Aliens turned out to be just as good, if not better than the first film, acting as the perfect adrenaline-fueled companion piece to the original's sphincter-clenching tension.
By the time the credits roll on Aliens, all the loose ends are tied up. Both Ripley and Newt are given a second chance at familial happiness, Weyland Yutani is sure to be exposed and the Xenomorphs that were plaguing LV-426 have been wiped out. It's safe to infer from its surprisingly quiet ending, that all is well in the universe.
So why, oh why, did they think to make another?
It's very much accepted that Alien 3 is a deeply flawed, but watchable trip through misery and heartache, but all the films that have since followed have dumped a little bit more petrol on that dumpster fire. From Alien: Ressurection's almost comical take on the Xenomorphs to Covenant's complete lack of respect for them, all subsequent sequels have sucked in their own unique ways.
