10 Horror Movie Sequels That Were JUST Announced
6. Deathgasm II: Goremageddon
New Zealand comedy-horror Deathgasm took genre fans by face-melting storm an entire decade ago, and director Jason Lei Howden immediately began talking up a sequel - Deathgasm II: Goremageddon.
Years passed without much forward momentum until the sequel was finally readying to shoot in early 2021, when Howden abruptly announced that it had been cancelled because the project had become "too commercial," whatever that means.
Howden instead opened a Kickstarter to fund Deathgasm II in 2023, which quickly blew past its $300,000 funding goal, ensuring that the sequel would indeed be produced.
Howden ended up shooting it last summer and recently released first-look images, while confirming that almost the entire ensemble cast from the first film will be returning.
The premise will see original protagonist Brodie (Milo Cawthorne) resurrect his dead former bandmates for a diabolic Battle of the Bands-type contest, while the musical score will be provided by Trivium frontman Matt Heafy.
While there's no release date set, given that it's been in post-production for the better part of a year, a drop close to Halloween doesn't seem out of the question.
