10 Horror Movie Twists That Made No Sense
1. High Tension
Let’s face it—as soon as you see a mention of terrible twists, you know Alexandre Aja’s otherwise-classic New French Extremity slasher is going to make an ignoble appearance. The Pirahna 3D helmer’s breakout hit is a gruelling exercise in sustained terror as we follow young students Marie and Alex through a horrific home invasion and a string of grisly killings.
That is, until the final few minutes reveals that the petite Marie is actually the one behind the killings, and the hulking faceless trucker pursuing the duo throughout the film is simply a figment of her imagination. Pretty clever twist, right?
Right—except that the film features a long sequence where Marie and Alex are locked in the Trucker’s trunk while he drives around, which makes about as much sense as the timeline of Michael Myers’s backstory.
Speaking of that truck, Alex and Marie arrived to Alex’s secluded farmhouse home together at the beginning of the film—so, how exactly did Marie smuggle a truck into her back garden on the way there?
Honestly, it’s not quality writing worthy of the man who brought you Jerry O’Connell’s 3D penis being eaten by pirahnas.
