10 Horror Movie Victims Who Were Actually The Villain

9. Amanda Young - Saw II (2005)

The Others
Lionsgate

James Wan's Saw changed the face of a stale horror market upon its release in 2004. With its intricately woven plot and stunning final reveal, audiences craved more.

Saw II sees John Kramer's dying Jigsaw set his sights on Detective Eric Matthews. Kramer has trapped his son along with others in a trap-laden house slowly filling with a deadly gas.

With constantly high stakes and more elaborate deadly traps, the tension never abates. Shawnee Smith's return as Amanda Young strikes an emotional chord with the viewer too as we watch her having to endure more torture. after previously escaping a trap.

Smith grounds the film and completes a full character arc. Beginning as a timid, PTSD ridden addict, by the end Amanda is full of final-girl badass-ery and taking on Jigsaw's riddles fearlessly. Without doubt we find ourselves cheering Smith on as she looks all set to rescue Matthews' son.

However, wouldn't you know it? Saw II offers up another twist ending here that'll make you scream at the screen in shock. As it turns out, Amanda is in on the whole thing. Impressed by her will to survive, she is Kramer's new apprentice!

We can only stare open-mouthed at the screen as Amanda locks Matthews in a dank bathroom after he has fallen for her rouse. With one final "game over," the viewer is left staring in darkness, shocked at the movie's genius misdirection and impressed by its sheer balls.

Hi! The first thing you should know about me is that I'm a HUGE horror movie nut. A confirmed addict to the WhatCulture Horror YouTube channel I thought I'd try my luck on their writing team. I'm a wannabe author with one completed manuscript submitted to a few agents. Please cross your fingers for me! I am currently working on my second book. If you wanna talk horror or need any movie recommendations, I'm your man! Give me a follow on Instagram... since there doesn't seem to be a section for that in the "socials" tab @that_horror_nerd
