10 Horror Movie Victims Who Were Actually The Villain

8. The Kids - The Lodge (2019)

The Others
Neon

This wonderfully atmospheric psychological thriller tells of two recently bereft children. In an attempt to unite his family, their father organizes Christmas at a remote lodge with his new girlfriend Grace. Grace is unexpectedly left alone with the children as a snowstorm and strange paranormal events close in.

The Lodge is so un-apologetically bleak. An incredibly foreboding sense of dread and impeccable performances from the young cast keep the viewer interested as seemingly tired paranormal events plague the characters.

Pills, dogs, food and blankets go missing. Footprints in the snow are mysteriously covered up and any attempt to leave the lodge results in circling back. As the cabin loses heat, power and furniture, everyone becomes convinced they have died and are in purgatory.

You may roll your eyes at this plot development, but hold on! The Lodge has one more excellent sting in its tail. As the already unstable Grace becomes catatonic The Lodge stuns us by revealing the kids have orchestrated everything.

Yes, these two angelic children have enacted a sinister plan to drive their father's girlfriend to suicide after blaming her for their mother's death. The twist may just leave you breathless... But there's more. Their gaslighting backfires as poor Grace has gone homicidally mad.

Convinced she must kill the children to "save their souls," the final act plays as a wonderfully tense cat and mouse game. Quite the surprise. This one is worth viewing for the incredible acting alone.

Hi! The first thing you should know about me is that I'm a HUGE horror movie nut. A confirmed addict to the WhatCulture Horror YouTube channel I thought I'd try my luck on their writing team. I'm a wannabe author with one completed manuscript submitted to a few agents. Please cross your fingers for me! I am currently working on my second book. If you wanna talk horror or need any movie recommendations, I'm your man! Give me a follow on Instagram... since there doesn't seem to be a section for that in the "socials" tab @that_horror_nerd
