10 Horror Movie Villains KILLED Before The End
8. The Engineers - Alien: Covenant
The villainous Engineers made their Alien franchise debut in prequel Prometheus, where it was made clear they really didn't think much of humanity, even if the particulars of why were kept ambiguous.
It was expected that sequel Alien: Covenant would reveal the truth behind this, but Ridley Scott decided instead to do something few expected - just kill all the Engineers off half-way through the movie.
In what's largely accepted to be a response - and, honestly, an overreaction - to the divisive fan reception to Prometheus and by extension the Engineers, Scott jettisoned them from the franchise by having malevolent android David (Michael Fassbender) carpet-bomb them with their own black goo mutagen. To rub salt in the wound, this is also a flashback, with David having actually killed the Engineers before the start of the movie.
And so, a race of villains fans firmly expected to see in the film were instead relegated to a single scene, their fate tied off with a neat bow as though Scott was basically telling the audience, "Let us never speak of the Engineers again."
For those of us who actually liked the Engineers, though, it was hugely disappointing for him to toss them out so summarily.
