Remember those seminars in school about being nice to other students? They would say how you never know what others are going through, how other students have their own feelings too, how they might have magic telekinetic powers they’ll use to murder you if you’re mean...

No? Huh.

Well you're not alone, apparently, as neither did the students of 1976’s Carrie because that’s exactly what happens. Titular teen, Carrie White, lives in a repressed religious household with her fanatical mother. At school Carrie is unpopular, and after experiencing her first period in the gym showers, Carrie’s torment grows considerably worse.

A particularly nasty group of popular kids at Carrie’s school decide that it would be a hilarious prank to get one of the boys to ask her to prom, where they would then humiliate her. At prom, Carrie’s tormentors rig the voting for prom queen to ensure her victory. When Carrie goes up on stage to receive her crown, a huge bucket of pig’s blood gets dumped on her.

With her recently discovered telekinetic powers, Carrie then proceeds to seal the doors and murder everyone in sight. Can you blame her though?

When Carrie returns home, her mother attempts to murder her with a knife. She can’t catch a break, can she? Carrie responds by burning the house down, herself and her mother in it.

Look, once again murder is bad yadda-yadda-yadda, but holy moly those high-school kids were horrible people. Did they deserve their fate? Probably not. Should they have been better people? Definitely.
