10 Horror Movie Villains Who Would Have Won By Doing NOTHING

2. The Thing - The Thing

John Carpenter's second film on this list trades in a murderous car for a shape-shifting blob from beyond the stars.

The Thing, from 1982, pits Kurt Russell's MacReady and the rest of his Antarctic research crew against the titular monster, as it attempts to escape their facility and assimilate the entire human race.

Obviously, that is a bad thing.

The creature first comes to the research station in the form of a sled dog, pursued by a gunman. Before the Norwegian fella can warn the Americans about the dog's true form, they shoot him dead.

With the only knowledge of its real purpose now resting in a dead man's memories, the Thing has a straight shot at freedom. All it has to do is lay low, keep quiet, and then ride out of the base to the wider world.

Instead, it goes on a killing spree, assimilating the entire crew before MacReady is able to eventually bring it down. Much like the Xenomorph, the Thing was a master of disguise. It could have easily stayed dormant and got its wish, but it was just too hasty.
