10 Horror Movie Villains With The Worst Motives

6. Bayfield Babyface Killer - Happy Death Day

There's Someone Inside Your House
Universal Pictures

Groundhog Day meets Scream, Happy Death Day is all about the mysteries behind why Tree Gelbman wakes up repeating the same day until she is murdered by Babyface, as well as the identity of who is behind the mask. The killer is eventually revealed to be Tree's roommate, Lori Spengler, though her motivations don't do the film's inventive premise nearly the justice it deserves.

Lori attempts to poison Tree with some cupcakes, donning the Babyface mask and going more hands-on when that plan fails to work. And her motivation for continuously killing her roommate? Tree is having an affair with Dr Gregory Butler, a man Lori also has her eyes on.

Given just how impressive this film is as a concept, and how it still stands as one of the best female-led horror flicks of all time, it's disappointing to see the big baddie's motivations boil down to something as cliche and petty as a love interest.
