9. Poltergeist
Following on from changing the way you look at your television screen forever, 1982's iconic horror picture Poltergeist went through the usual sequel, remake, and even TV spin-off treatment.
None of those subsequent projects experienced quite the same level of popularity or inspired the same type of terror as that first supernatural experience, though, with that tale of spirits tormenting a suburban family being cherished as an all-time classic of the genre.
But after clearly sensing there was money still left to be made from this Steven Spielberg-co-written and Tobe Hooper-directed property, it was reported by Variety towards the end of 2023 that another attempt to bring the franchise to TV screens was being made by Amazon MGM Studios.
The show, the second TV series to spin-off from the movie after Poltergeist: The Legacy's four-season run in the '90s, is in early development at this stage, with no plot details currently being available to report on at this time other than the fact it will be set in the world of the 1982 picture.
