10 Horror Movies About To Become TV Shows

8. Welcome To Derry

Hostel Part 2
Warner Bros.

Long before Bill Skarsgard was leaving you feeling all kinds of disturbed as the demon clown Pennywise in the recent big-screen It Chapters, that red-nosed menace obviously first popped up on-screen in Tommy Lee Wallace's TV adaptation of Stephen King's It.

And 35 years on from Tim Curry's version of the unsettling entity rearing its head on tellies, this horrifying creature will now finally be making its small-screen comeback. As a prequel to the events of the aforementioned Andy Muschietti movies, the show with the working title of Welcome to Derry will once again see Skarsgard throwing on the orange wig - and also executive producing - and Muschietti directing four of the nine episodes being created for the Max show (via Deadline).

The show will be focusing on a story by the director and producers Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs based on the iconic King book. As of now, it's said that the series will be set in the '60s and also explore the origins of Pennywise (via Variety), with the confirmed cast for the project consisting of Skarsgard, Jovan Adepo, Taylour Paige, James Remar, Chris Chalk, and Stephen Rider.

Those Muschietti It pictures ended up grossing a staggering $1.17 billion altogether, so another entry into the clown-iverse was always inevitable. But it remains to be seen whether this latest slice of Derry terror will float or flop when it arrives in 2025.
