10 Horror Movies Even More Disturbing Than You Thought

6. Nobody Will Believe Grace - Ready Or Not

The Purge
Fox Searchlight

Ready or Not may be a black comedy-horror movie, but there's little denying how genuinely unnerving the central conceit is, of a Satan-worshipping family sacrificing those who marry into their clan in a sick, game-like ritual in exchange for both material wealth and their ongoing survival.

The latest intended victim is Grace Le Domas (Samara Weaving), who proves decidedly steelier than the family ever anticipated, enough that she's ultimately able to evade the Le Domases until dawn, at which point their failure results in the remaining family members spontaneously exploding.

It's painted as a darkly hilarious triumphant ending, but much like the climax of Get Out - to which it was frequently compared upon release - Grace is going to have a tough time explaining everything that went down on the mansion's grounds.

Given that more than a dozen members of the wider family end up dead by film's end, including two children, the mansion has been set ablaze, and Grace is seen covered in blood by the police when they arrive on the scene, some very tough times are ahead for her.

After all, would the police more easily believe that Grace was a victim of a cult ritual or that she systematically murdered the family and burned their remains inside the mansion?

Basically, there's a very strong possibility that Grace goes on trial for serial murder, and even if not, she's going to spend the rest of her life being viewed with intense suspicion by both the media and the authorities.
