10 Horror Movies Even More Disturbing Than You Thought

2. Samantha's Kids Are Totally Traumatised - The Final Destination

The Purge
New Line Cinema

The Final Destination movies admittedly toe the line between camp and genuine gut-wrenching horror pretty well, but as the intended final film in the series, the fourth movie, The Final Destination, seemingly had the last word on humanity's inability to escape Death's touch.

The movie ends yet again with the survivors being brutally killed by Death after believing they've escaped, but there's actually an even more unsettling implication which occurs earlier in the film.

You might recall the gnarly demise of mother-of-two Samantha Lane (Krista Allen) mid-way through the movie, when a stone is inadvertently picked up by a lawnmower and propelled right through her eye, killing her instantly.

But what you shouldn't forget is that the stone was accidentally thrown into the lawnmower's path by one of Samantha's sons, as the pair were briefly shown throwing stones at a stop sign moments earlier.

Basically, one of the kids got their own poor mother killed, a realisation which will surely leave them traumatised for the rest of their damn lives.

In a series known for its cruel deaths, this might be the most low-key screwed-up of them all, cruelly saddling thinly sketched child characters with a lifetime's worth of anguish before leaving them in the dust to be quickly forgotten.
