10 Horror Movies Ruined By Listening To The Fans

When Paul W.S. Anderson's run of Resident Evil movies finally came to an end and Sony indicated that they would soon enough reboot the series, fans of the games begged them to, above all else, make this do-over more faithful to the source material.

But as brutal proof that you should be careful about what you wish for, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City was no less terrible for being source-accurate.

By overdosing on cringe-worthy, low-effort fan service and haphazardly combining the stories of the first two games into one messy hodgepodge, Welcome to Raccoon City is a film that tried too hard to please the die-hard fans - and yet at the same time, it also didn't try nearly hard enough.

Considering that the best live-action Resident Evil movie to date is still Anderson's 2002 original - which has by far the least in common with the games - there's surely a lesson to be learned here: pandering to fans' desires to see familiar things represented on screen isn't a cheat code for success.
