10 Horror Movies Ruined By Listening To The Fans

5. Cube Zero

Alien: Resurrection Ripley 8
Lionsgate

The original Cube is a fantastically inventive low-budget horror which thrives on the fact that we have no idea why these strangers have all woken up inside a prison of interconnecting cubes. More to the point, we don't know who created it or what lies outside the cube.

Fans were desperate to know more, and so after the release of Cube 2: Hypercube - which really only raised more questions - the producers acquiesced and made Cube Zero, a prequel which detailed the origins of the cube.

Cube Zero reveals that the cube is operated by a totalitarian government, acting as a prison for both death row inmates and political dissidents alike. It's also implied that the sole survivor of the original movie, Kazan (Andrew Miller), wasn't actually autistic but had been lobotomised prior to entering the cube.

All in all, it's yet another classic case of the answers being profoundly less interesting than just keeping the mystery alive forever more.
