10 Horror Movies Ruined By Listening To The Fans

After seven Friday the 13th movies set in and around Camp Crystal Lake, you can't really blame fans for asking to see Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) transported to a new setting, but New York City? This wasn't it.

More to the point, the Friday the 13th series' production model simply wasn't built for on-location shooting; the films were produced for a few million dollars at absolute most to ensure they could turn an easy profit no matter how poor the reviews were.

And so, when the producers actually listened to fans and took Jason away from Camp Crystal Lake to the Big Apple, they had to figure out how to do so on a mere $5 million budget, which still made it by far the most expensive film in the series up to that point.

Their solution? Set most of the movie on a boat headed to New York and only shoot a few minutes' worth of footage on-location, which for a film called "Jason Takes Manhattan" naturally left a sour taste for most fans.

Ultimately if the filmmakers weren't able to do justice to the idea, they probably should've just kept the action in Camp Crystal Lake or a similarly modest setting.

After all, the previous movie - Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood - still generated almost seven-times its budget at the box office despite returning to the tried and tested well yet again.
