10 Horror Movies So Sad You Can Only Watch Them Once
2. Lamb
In Valdimar Johannsson's chilling horror, a childless couple, Maria and Ingvar, are baffled to discover their sheep has given birth to a lamb/human hybrid, whom they call Ada. Maria and Invgar agree to care for their unique offspring like he's their flesh-and-blood. Despite this... really weird situation, Maria and Ingvar become utterly content once they accept Ada into their life.
But when Ingvar's brother, Petur, discovers the child, tension rises in the family. And when we learn more about Ada's origin, we instantly know it isn't going to end well for anyone.
Lamb definitely qualifies as a one-viewing movie for two reasons. Firstly, everything culminates in tragedy. Without spoiling anything, the climax leaves you shocked, rattled, and broken, without letting you fully understanding what you just witnessed.
Secondly, the film is a bit of a slog. Even though it runs for a reasonable 106 minutes, the lack of dialogue and slow pace make it feel twice as long.
If you're asked to watch this slow-burner again, knowing full well how crushing the conclusion is, no one will blame you if you give Lamb a pass.
