10 Horror Movies That Almost Had TERRIBLE Titles
8. Blood Buddy - Child's Play
Third time's a charm; that's a phrase you can easily use for the good old doll killer Chucky, as his amazing horror series, created by Don Mancini, settled on its original name on the third go-around.
The Child's Play franchise, which now goes by the more ubiquitous Chucky, was originally going to be called Batteries Not Included. To be fair, this title - which Mancini discussed during a watch party of the first film, collated here by SYFY - would have been pretty wicked.
Unfortunately, Steven Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment swept in first with the release of a family-friendly film of the same name the year prior.
What was the next option after losing out on this title? Well, it was Blood Buddy.
Yes, this title would have been dreadful, as it has none of the subtlety of either Child's Play or Batteries Not Included. The name seemed to stem from the film's satire of Hasbro's My Buddy dolls, a toy so forgotten it would have made the series feel painfully dated now and way too on the nose upon its release.
