10 Horror Movies That Deserve A Sequel (But Will Never Get One)
5. Freddy Vs. Jason
Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees have remained among the most defining horror villains for decades, which is why it seemed inevitable that the dream demon and the machete-wielding maniac would eventually square off.
Even though such a crossover was planned back in 1987, it took 16 years for Freddy vs. Jason to finally emerge. Not only was the supernatural slasher a dream come true for purists, but it was also the most successful instalment in either franchise at the time.
So, when preparations were made for an Evil Dead crossover called Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, excitement was through the roof. Like the other properties, Evil Dead knew how to play up the tongue-in-cheek elements of horror, making the boomstick-blasting Ash Williams a perfect fit for the sequel. Also, this was the opportunity to see Freddy and Jason join forces to battle a common foe.
But after Bruce Campbell learned his beloved character wasn't allowed to kill either villain, he jumped ship, dissolving the project then and there.
Although Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash was reworked into a comic book, it would've been a treat to see the groovy chainsaw-favouring badass go toe-to-toe with the serial-killing duo.
