10 Horror Movies That Ended Too Soon

2. Jennifer's Body

Jennifers Body
20th Century Fox

While it divided opinion on release, Jennifer's Body has only grown in reputation since 2009 and is now considered by many to be an underrated cult classic. The film does have its great moments, but is also let down by pacing issues in the second half which culminate in an ending that could have been worthwhile with even just a small extension to its runtime.

Possessed high-school student Jennifer Check is built up throughout the film to be an all-powerful antagonist for Anita, her former best friend, before Anita quickly dispatches her with a knife through the heart not long before the ending.

Everything wraps up soon after with Anita escaping her imprisonment in an insane asylum by using some of Jennifer's powers, newly acquired from a bite obtained during their final battle. She then finds the rock band who had Jennifer possessed in the first place and kills them all.

It's a shame that the film didn't make further use of Anita's new powers. Anita and Jennifer engaging in a true final battle with both of their enhanced power sets would make for a thrilling sequence. Furthermore, Anita seeing how others react to her obtaining these new gifts, and the further effect this has on her shattered mind, would help emphasise the movie's emotional core.

Just an extra few minutes exploring even just one of these options could have really bumped the movie up to all-time classic status.
