10 Horror Movies That Flopped Hard In 2022

9. Dashcam

The Invitation
Momentum Pictures

In Dashcam, which takes place as the live stream of an incendiary musician who leaves the United States for London amid the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the computer screen aesthetic is carried over from director Rob Savage’s previous movie Host.

Giant Drag singer Annie Hardy takes the front seat role (no pun intended) as a fictionalized version of herself who searches for a former bandmate while stirring up trouble in the community until she finds herself being pursued by bizarre things.

Reviewers lauded the movie's technical execution and nonstop thrills, but that was only enough for a 48% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (and a 37& audience score).

It seems that a lot of people simply thought that the protagonist was annoying to the point where it undermined the movie’s other strengths. Although Dashcam might become a future cult favourite in various corners of the internet, it probably won’t inspire the studio to give the green light for a sequel.
