10 Horror Movies That Instantly Told You They Were Garbage

According to David Fincher, few things can set a film up more neatly than an on-point opening credits sequence. It's nice James Wan gave it a go but given the credits here just sort of spoil half the film, one can't help but feel they should've been cut.

It's almost like a test of how much registers with viewers for later on. Between the graphic surgery scenes of evil twin Gabriel being removed to the case files mentioning his name, powers and sister's stay at the medical facility, much of what's later treated as a big reveal is already revealed.

The incredibly corny opening scene in which doctors and security deal with the evil siamese twin runs almost like a parody of a bad horror movie. We start with one doctor kindly recording an exposition-laden tape about Gabriel, a super-powered sort of human who lives in the back of his twin sister some how.

Despite the fact he can control electricity, the guards seem to think a quaint tranquilliser will be enough to silence him. In yet another bizarre gap in logic, the infant Gabriel, who barely even has his own brain, waxes lyrical via the speakers in the room with the kind of evil ramblings usually reserved for subpar villains who've reached adulthood.

The worst thing here is this is actually one of the better parts of James Wan's darkest creative hour.
