George A. Romero's legendary Dawn of the Dead ends with TV producer Fran (Gaylen Ross) and police officer Peter (Ken Foree) escaping the zombie-infested mall via helicopter, their fates ultimately left uncertain.

But Romero's original script was far more explicit about what happens to Fran and Peter, by having them never even get away from the mall.

In the script, Peter shoots himself - as he almost does in the final film - while Fran shoves her head into the helicopter's rotor blades.

The end credits would then roll with the helicopter's blades soon enough grinding to a halt, confirming that Peter and Fran wouldn't have gotten far from the mall even if they had taken flight.

Romero claims the scene was never shot, though behind-the-scenes footage has shown parts of the sequence at least being tested.

In fact, the infamous zombie shotgun blast near the start of the film was a prop originally intended for Fran's suicide and ultimately repurposed.
