10 Horror Movies That Teased A Sequel Which Never Happened

1. Freddy Vs. Jason

Along side the likes of Alien Vs Predator and Batman Vs Superman, you can chalk Freddy Vs Jason up as one of the most underwhelming crossover movie events of all time. These are two of the most iconic horror characters in history, and their big fight fizzled out to nothing.

This perhaps shouldn't be too surprising, as both A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th were flagging franchises without a decent entry in years, and while bringing the legendary slashers together may have been a good idea on paper, it just didn't translate to interest on the screen.

This is likely a factor in why there was no cinematic follow up on the final moment of the film. Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger), having decapitated and seemingly killed Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), carried his victim's head in his hands before Freddy opened his eyes to confirm his survival.

There was a similar tease at the end of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, in which the thought-to-be-dead Norrin Radd's Silver Surfer opened his eyes opened at the last second, but ultimately neither led to anything substantial. Englund's Freddy has not been seen on screen since, with no further Nightmare films but the 2010 remake, leaving the story to be finished in a comic book along side another horror heavy hitter, Evil Dead's Ash Williams.
