10 Horror Movies That Teased A Sequel Which Never Happened
7. Predators
Quite incredibly, there have been more good Predator movies in the last four years than in the franchise's first 35. After the original, one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's most iconic films, and a staple of 80s action, the quality of the sequels fell off a cliff.
The second of which was Predators, the first of the films to take place away from Earth. Whereas before, the Yautja hunted throughout the galaxy, here they brought multiple targets into one giant forest world, to essentially hunt them on home turf. It had a fantastic cast, but it never elevated itself above just fine.
The group that came together, unsurprisingly suffered from multiple deaths, leaving just Royce and Isabelle (Adrian Brody and Alice Braga) at the end. After surviving their hunt, as the two saw many more potential prey dropping from the sky into the unknown just as they did, they headed off to find a way off the planet. This was originally supposed to kick off its own trilogy, something that ultimately went unrealised.
While technically there came a sequel in The Predator, eight years later, it continued the franchise in an entirely new direction that was completely stand alone from its immediate predecessor. The story was brought back to Earth, leaving the wide open ending to stay that way without any closure. There was clearly more story surrounding Royce and Isabelle, but that will never be told.
