Of course, reboots and remakes are here, there, and everywhere these days, but just because the original film sprouted off a franchise and at least a sequel or two, doesn't mean that the new version will. Case and point, look no further than The Blob.

In 1958, the body horror classic was released in which the titular alien blob lands on Earth and begins what is essentially a mindless killing spree. 14 years later, Beware! The Blob released and brought back the same entity as before for another round.

When The Blob was remade in 1988, it was clear that there were already ideas for further films in place. While the original saw the Blob transported to the Arctic in order to keep it frozen and safe, the sequel tease was even more on the nose than the question mark that morphed after "The End" in the original.

Meeker (Del Close), who had been attacked himself by the Blob, promised that the day of reckoning would soon be coming as he revealed a small jar containing the monster itself. Even after that however, there was no sequel that came, and seemingly there will be no legacy sequel to come either, as a David Bruckner remake is reportedly in the works. This has been stuck in development hell since 2009 however, and has been through a revolving door of different names attached, so whether this actually sees the light of day remains to be seen.
