Tag is a bizarre with a capital B Japanese action horror with so many twists and turns, it'll give you vertigo. The film opens up with a strange but simple mystery. A young girl travels on a school bus, only for a gust of wind to slice through the vehicle, killing everyone but her. Okay, so it's a supernatural phenomenon movie, right?
Well, no, because from there, the flick evolves into a mind-melding compilation of equally strange scenarios that always end with bloody carnage. It forces you to guess what the through line is, but doesn't hold your hand, leaving you in the dark for the vast majority of the film.
The eventual reveal is utterly bonkers, yet somehow makes complete sense if you've been paying attention. This puts one final shocking note on the flick, meaning that at no point were your expectations of what was happening ever on point.
