Though Bill Murray's cameo in Zombieland is basically a throwaway gag - albeit a very funny one - it does nevertheless suggest that Murray actually had a pretty damn smart plan for surviving the undead apocalypse.

When the heroes arrive at his mansion, a seemingly zombified Murray reveals that he's very much alive and is in fact wearing zombie makeup to avoid being pestered by them because, in his own words, "zombies don't mess with other zombies."

This tactic apparently allowed Murray to live his life and even play golf undisturbed, but the one thing he didn't consider? Other survivors.

And so, when Murray decides to play a prank on Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) by pretending to be a zombie, Columbus reflexively grabs his gun and shoots the star point blank in the chest, killing him.

In his dying moments the man had the smarts and self-awareness to appreciate that Garfield was a massive career mistake, and yet didn't consider that his risky prank on a clearly nervous, anxious person might spectacularly backfire.

Stupid? Undeniably. Comedy gold? Totally.
