10 Horror Movies That Would Have Made Better TV Shows

7. They Live

In John Carpenter's classic, They Live, a random construction worker called Nada discovers a pair of sunglasses that allow him to see the world the way it really is. While wearing the spectacles, Nada sees subliminal messages hidden in all forms of media (posters, television, magazines, etc.) to ensure humanity stay submissive and never questions authority. Nada's shades also reveal that some "people" are aliens in disguise, living among humanity to ensure no one learns that they are being controlled.

This premise of They Live is so gripping, it should be explored again in a TV adaptation. But a series wouldn't just recreate the story; it could expand on the film's jaw-dropping conclusion. In the final scene, all of humanity learns that aliens live among them.

Although this is a satisfying climax, it would be better to see where the story goes from there. Would the aliens declare an all-out war now they have been found out? Would they try a different strategy to control society? Could humanity and the extra-terrestrials come to an understanding? What if some humans side with the aliens or vice versa? That's at least two or three seasons of material right there!
