10 Horror Movies With Amazing Concepts But TERRIBLE Execution

8. Apollo 18

What better way to distinguish yourself in the wildly oversaturated found footage genre than by taking the horror to the moon?

More to the point, Apollo 18 quite brilliantly suggests that the cancelled titular Moon mission actually did happen, but the astronauts involved never returned to Earth.

It's a spine-tingling setup, and though the aesthetic work is absolutely on point, this is ultimately a bafflingly tedious affair, even once spider-like aliens show up which can disguise themselves as moon rocks.

It's easy to see why this low-budget horror got the greenlight, because in better hands it could've absolutely been a standout found footage film, but it ultimately seems too content to coast on the brilliance of its setup and immersive stylistic accomplishments.

Even at just 86 minutes in length, this thing is a chore to see through to the end, which feels like the grandest indictment one could possibly make against a movie with such a neat central idea.
