10 Horror Movies With Terrifying Surprises

Steven Sheil's Mum & Dad is a brutal, unrelenting film that is a tough, tough watch at times.

All starts off so calm and normal in this 2008 picture, with Heathrow Airport cleaner Lena (Olga Fedori) finishing up her shift and getting ready to head home. After missing the last bus, Lena is told by co-worker Birdie (Ainsley Howard) that her father will drive Lena home if they walk to Birdie's house.

It's here that things take a turn for the eerie, with Lena knocked out and drugged as soon as she enters Birdie's home. Simply known as Mum and Dad, the heads of the family here are some properly f**ked up sorts, as Lena is dressed up as a child, tied to a chair, has her body mutilated, and has a soundtrack of chilling screams coming from the other rooms in the house.

If this wasn't distressing enough, to add a further layer of bizarre to proceedings, Lena is surprised at breakfast time when the family are collectively watching pornography while chomping on their cornflakes and toast.

Being honest, Mum & Dad is full of plentiful other terrifying surprises - ranging from other family members, to sexual assault, to several deaths - but pornflakes is absoutely one of the most jarring.
