10 Horror Movies With The Worst CGI

3. The Midnight Meat Train

The Midnight Meat Train is a 2008 horror movie starring familiar faces like Bradley Cooper, Leslie Bibb, Brooke Shields and Vinnie Jones. The fact that a movie with such recognisable actors is relatively unheard of should go someway towards describing its quality.

Based on Clive Barker's (yes, the same guy that wrote Hellraiser) short story of the same name, The Midnight Meat Train follows a photographer attempting to track down a serial killer known as "the Subway Butcher".

The problem with The Midnight Meat Train is, like the other entries on this list, its presentation. The concept is sound, and there's somethine genuinely terrifying about someone who exclusively kills while using public transport (which, let's face it, is scary enough anyway), but the excessive CGI gore used in TMMT is beyond awful.

A particular highlight is when Mahogany (Vinnie Jones) uses a hammer to smash Randall's (Ted Raimi) skull in, prompting a slo-mo shot of the man's CG eye to pop out of its socket before exploding and splattering his friends' faces with a ridiculous amount of gore.

It's utterly hideous, and not in the way it was intended to be.
