10 Horror Movies With The Worst Monster Reveal

6. The Spider - IT

Alien Resurrection The Newborn
ABC

Because the IT mini-series is 192 minutes long, it could've been an absolute slog.

Fortunately, you don't really feel the film's length thanks to Tim Curry's wonderful performance as Pennywise. Even though Curry plays up the nefarious clown's goofier side, he never stops being creepy, which keeps you on edge.

As sinister as Pennywise is, he warns The Losers Club how they have yet to see his true form. When you hear these words, you can't help but wonder what utterly terrifying form Pennywise will take on in the showdown.

So, when The Losers Club venture to Pennywise's lair to defeat him once and for all, they see he has transformed into.... a giant stop-motion spider. Not only is the arachnid's movements janky as hell, it's obvious when the footage switches from stop-motion to an on-set puppet.

Because Tim Curry isn't utilised after Pennywise turns into... whatever this is, the main villain lacks all personality and menace during the climax.

Despite the fact Pennywise's final manifestation is meant to fill us with dread, pretty much everyone thought the same thing while watching this scene - "I waited three hours to see THAT?"
