10 Horror Movies With The Worst Monster Reveal

2. The Newborn - Alien Resurrection

Alien Resurrection is unanimously regarded as the nadir of Ridley Scott's franchise. This unnecessary sequel was let down by its jarring tone, unconvincing CGI, and cheesy dialogue. Because it focuses more on action rather than horror, it barely feels like it takes place in the Alien universe.

However, there's one factor in Alien Resurrection that REALLY ticked off long-time Alien fans. Because the story centres around the creation of a human/Xenomorph hybrid, the filmmakers had to design a new extra-terrestrial called The Newborn.

The scriptwriter, Joss Whedon, envisioned the creature having ivory-white skin, hidden eyes, bulging red veins across its face, and spider-like legs. The Newborn was also meant to be colossal, rivalling the Queen in size.

Even though that design sounds pretty terrifying, The Newborn was redesigned into a gloopy, saggy monstrosity that looks like it couldn't fight its way out of a paper bag.

As bad as this monster looks, it could've been so much worse. For some baffling reason, The Newborn was originally depicted with enormous male and female genitals. Thankfully, a studio executive had the common sense to convince the director to have reproductive organs digitally removed.
