10 Horror Movies With Unexpectedly Ridiculous Plot Twists

5. The Two Hidden Identities - Angel Heart

Wish Upon
Tri-Star Pictures

This Robert de Niro helmed picture contains not one, but two twists! Don’t say I don’t treat you.

Harry Angel, a PI, is hired by a mysterious man named Louis Cypher to track down a missing man called John Liebling, a musician better known as Johnny Favourite. Favourite disappeared after being committed to a hospital for injuries he gained during the Second World War.

As he investigates, Angel finds out that Favourite was only a bloody Satanic occultist who sacrificed a young boy in order to gain stardom in exchange for his soul. Yet he was shipped off to war, suffering amnesia as a result of his injuries. Think you know where this is going…

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it turns out that Angel is John Liebling. But wait, there’s more! Louis Cypher has some secrets up his sleeve, as his name is actually a homophone for a certain demonic entity: Lucifer. Cypher has come to claim Angel’s soul after all these years, and the film ends with not only this mad revelation, but also hinting that the Antichrist is also alive and kicking. Not quite what anyone was expecting!!
