10 Horror Movies You Didn't Know Nearly Happened

8. Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash

Dumb and Dumber To
New Line Cinema/Starz

Crossover fights between cinema icons are a tricky endeavour. For every Godzilla vs Kong, there is an Alien vs. Predator ready to disappoint fans who eagerly awaited an epic bout between the two titans.

To some degree, Freddy vs. Jason escaped the same trappings that unfortunately hampered the other big horror crossover film, and its proposed sequel featuring a certain chainsaw-wielding Deadite killer may have set the bar even higher than expected.

Following the success of the 2003 flick, Bruce Campbell and New Line Cinema entered negotiations on how best to pit Williams against the death-defying serial killers, but they quickly fell apart after Campbell suggested that his beloved character killed Voorhees and Krueger during the film's climax.

It was immediately clear that the studio execs were not willing to kill off such financially lucrative characters, and it did not help matters that both parties could not agree on an appropriate budget to bring the story to life. Despite failing at the cinematic level, the crossover eventually found life as a six-issue comic published by Wildstorm and Dynamite Entertainment from 2007 to 2008.
