10 Horror Movies You Never Knew Spawned A Trilogy

We've waited nearly twenty years for some sort of sequel or follow-up to Dog Soldiers, but they managed to churn out three Ginger Snaps movies in the space of four years. We should have had trilogies for both movies by now, not just one, and yes, Ginger Snaps has a trilogy. The first movie was a little Canadian horror that stole the show at the Toronto International Film Festival, and rightfully went on to achieve cult status.

The movie carried deeper themes of young womanhood and explored bodily changes through lycanthropy, but on its surface it was still a great horror to feast on. The success of the movie actually fast tracked two sequels that were shot back to back, the first of which was Ginger Snaps: Unleashed. The sequel got a wider theatrical release than its predecessor but disappointingly did worse at the box office. An unusual event for a horror movie, and for a sequel that was still very enjoyable. So what happened to the third movie that they shot back-to-back with Unleashed? It was dumped straight on home video in 2004. The movie is yet another third entry that is actually a prequel to its predecessors, but unlike Cabin Fever 3, Lost Boys 3, or Maniac Cop 3, this movie was actually watchable.
