The Collected, a sequel to cult fave horror films The Collector and The Collection, actually got far enough that it started shooting in 2019.

However, word went quiet on the sequel for roughly 18 months, before director Marcus Dunstan revealed that filming was never actually completed, with production being shut down after just eight days of shooting.

According to Dunstan, the shoot was swiftly shut down and the producers immediately ceased communications with him, a situation he called "completely avoidable" and naturally expressed intense frustration with.

We still don't know the particulars of why The Collected was shut down, but because Dunstan doesn't own the rights to the IP, he's been unable to resume the shoot with another team.

Dunstan did provide a promising update last July when he announced that The Collected was no longer locked in legal limbo, though it still remains to be seen whether or not the threequel will ever actually get made.
