10 Horror Sequels Scrapped For INSANE Reasons
3. Bruce Campbell Hated The Script - Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires
2002's cult classic Bubba Ho-Tep stars Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis as Elvis Presley and John F. Kennedy Jr., who are in fact still alive and residents of a nursing home that's terrorised by an ancient Egyptian mummy.
Though the end credits tease of a sequel, Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires, was originally a joke, filmmaker Don Coscarelli changed his mind after the positive reception to the first film.
The sequel would focus on the production of a lost Elvis movie from the 1950s or 1960s, with Paul Giamatti soon enough signed up to co-star alongside Campbell as Colonel Tom Parker.
Giamatti was hugely enthusiastic about the script, though the production hit a major snag in 2007 when Campbell dropped out, citing dissatisfaction with the story.
Giamatti kept drumming up support for the sequel for years afterwards, even stating that Ron Perlman was interested in taking over the role from Campbell at one point, though 23 years (!) on from the original's release, it still hasn't come to fruition.
Coscarelli expressed a desire to get the sequel made in some form as recently as 2022, but considering the amount of time that's passed and the conservative nature of the current filmmaking climate, it sadly doesn't seem terribly likely.
