Functioning as Andres Muschietti’s first feature length film, 2013’s Mama paved the way for the director to take the helm on the now famed adaptation of Stephen King’s It, and by extension, become one of the most well known horror directors with only two full length titles on his resume. Impressive.

The film that started it all was in fact first a short, and was made for cinema with producing credits from Guillermo Del Toro himself, and starred Jessica Chastain. Whilst the sequel can’t boast of either of these names, there are still options on where Starry Eyes directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch can take the latest instalment.

Things were wrapped up after following two young orphan girls raised by a ghost in the forest for five years in Mama - as well as a brief outline of how said ghost came about - so where exactly the film will take us is anyone’s guess.
