10 Horror Villains Who Were Just Misunderstood

1. The Facility – The Cabin In The Woods

The Facility in Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon’s meta-horror might come across as a callous bunch at first, taking bets on which monster trope the unsuspecting youngsters will fall victim to – merman or sugarplum fairy? Giant snake or angry molesting tree? – but it soon turns out that they’re just doing their job.

Of course, killing off a group of young people with everything to live for in a blood ritual to appease ancient, angry gods is a dirty job but someone’s got to do it. Especially when the alternative – the complete annihilation of mankind at the hands of said evil gods – is so drastic. A handful of dead teens is reasonable collateral when you’re trying to secure the future of humanity.

Come to think of it, it was pretty selfish of those pesky young’uns not to sacrifice themselves to save the rest of the world. Millennials, eh?
