5. Pinhead & The Cenobites – Hellraiser
Pinhead and his Cenobites may look a little off-putting what with all those fetishistic PVC outfits, piercings and sadomasochistic body mods but beyond their scary, intimidating appearance they’re really not so bad a bunch.
It’s not like the Cenobites are pushing their choice of lifestyle on anyone. They don’t go around looking for souls to tear apart but rather wait until they’re summoned by the Lament Configuration puzzle box which is mostly sought out by people looking for the kind of freaky, dimension-transcending BDSM stuff the Cenobites are into. Should the puzzle box fall into unsuspecting hands like Kirsty Cotton’s, they’re usually willing to make some kind of deal.
As Pinhead himself says, he and the Cenobites are merely “Explorers, in the further regions of experience. Demons to some, angels to others”. Just because their idea of pleasure is a little less vanilla than most doesn’t mean we should judge them.
