10 Huge Sequels That Were Announced (And Then Just Disappeared)

1. Ferris Bueller's Day Off 2

John Hughes just couldn't let go of his desire for Brat Pack sequels, and who can blame him really? The films were all extremely popular, and it would've been a shame to let that popularity go to waste, from a purely monetary standpoint, of course. Much like his plans for The Breakfast Club 2, Hughes wanted to take a look at how Matthew Broderick's character was faring down the road. Hughes and Broderick had kept in touch over the years, and even passed a few ideas back and forth; Ferris Bueller in college, Ferris Bueller in the workplace, Ferris Bueller breaking Cameron out of a nursing home, etc. Over 20 years later, with no further rumors to speak of, it's probably safe to say that Ferris Bueller will not be getting another day off anytime soon. That's not to say we didn't all get a little scare. In 2012, a ten-second trailer was released, showing Broderick opening the curtains at his hotel window and uttering the line, "How can I handle work on a day like today?" Fans were left with the promise that all would be announced during the 2012 Superbowl, and so they waited in anticipation... or was it dread? Either way, the promo was finally revealed as a Honda CR-V television spot, proving that car companies do indeed subject the general public to cruel and unusual punishment. Regardless, the commercial is a fun little tip of the hat to the '80s classic, and we can all rest easy in the knowledge that no plans of an actual Bueller sequel are currently being discussed. So what do you think? Did any of these potential sequels catch your eye, or are you happy that they were given the axe? Let us know what you think by commenting below.
