10 Hugely Popular Movie Fan Theories That Were Completely Wrong

5. A Secret Venom Movie - Life

For all of its success and almost universal acclaim, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has changed the movie industry forever, and not necessarily for the better. The shared universe of Marvel Studios has led fans to believe that similar connections exist throughout the entire Hollywood landscape.

This happened in 2017 with Life, when fans became convinced by the popular theory that the movie would prove to be a prequel to Venom, set to be released just a year later. Though it may have seemed a stretch on the surface, there were more than a few connections between the two movies.

Of course, the biggest was that the alien form in Life was almost identical to the famous Marvel symbiote, Sony produced and released both films, and then there's Carlton Drake's Life Foundation that experimented on the symbiotes in Tom Hardy's SSU flagship outing.

However, in spite of fans willing the theory to be true, there were absolutely no concrete connections between the two movies once both had released. Life was similar, certainly, but if similar movies were all connected then the entire industry would be one big shared universe. The origin of the symbiotes in Venom were instead shown in Venom, leaving the Life theory dead in the water.
