10 Hugely Successful Movies That Amazingly Never Got Sequels

7. Hancock

HancockBox Office: $624,346,274 Hancock scored mixed notices with critics - 41% on Rotten Tomatoes - but managed to light up the box office based largely on Will Smith's (at the time) status as the King of the Box Office, playing an alcoholic, down-and-out "superhero" who really wasn't all that super. Though the premise was fantastic, Peter Berg's film lost itself amid some creaky plot twists, even if the ending still left me curious to know more about these characters and their world. Peter Berg noted that a sequel was contingent on the film's box office, and after it took the #1 spot for the 5-day weekend, Will Smith said of a sequel that, "The ideas aren't...developed, but we are building out an entire world; I think people are going to be very surprised at the new world of Hancock." Charlize Theron is also confirmed to return, and apparently a third name actor was being picked to join them as another God-like character. Still, I'll believe it when I see it, and the longer times goes by, the less likely this one is.
