10 Hugely Successful Movies That Amazingly Never Got Sequels

6. The Incredibles

The IncrediblesBox Office: $632,107,545 Given how increasingly Pixar are tending towards sequels to prop themselves up, it's surprising that they haven't yet opted for a sequel to the uproarious superhero spoof The Incredibles. Back in 2004, when Disney still owned the rights, they did plan a second Incredibles film, though this eventually fell apart, and when Disney bought Pixar a few years later, enthusiasm for the project seemed to largely disappear. Still, director Brad Bird said earlier this year that, "I have been thinking about it. People think that I have not been, but I have...I have many, many elements that I think would work really well in another Incredibles film, and if I can get €˜em to click all together, I would probably wanna do that." Samuel L. Jackson chimed in on the prospect of an Incredibles sequel at this year's Comic-Con, also, noting, €œI keep asking the guys at Pixar why we didn€™t make The Incredibles 2. And nobody can tell me. Personally I think they raised the bar so high that they are worried about making one that€™s not as good as the first one." If Cars, which grossed significantly less than The Incredibles at the box office - though admittedly made billions in car-related merchandising - can get a sequel, then why not a film that the vast majority will agree is effortlessly superior?
