10 Hyped 2019 Movies That Disappointed Everyone

7. Captain Marvel

With every MCU movie that releases, there is the risk of failing to live up to the ridiculously high standard the studio has set for itself, and the expectations of the fans that goes with it. Both Iron Man sequels suffered from this, as did Age of Ultron and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

One movie that suffered from the curse of too much hype, more so than any other MCU movie, was Captain Marvel. Not only was it the last movie in the franchise before Avengers: Endgame, it was the introduction of one of the most powerful Marvel cinematic characters to date, and was the franchise's first female led movie.

While Carol Danvers' first solo outing was not a bad movie by any stretch, it certainly wasn't the show-stopper it could have been. The almost formulaic origin story, at times shoddy CGI, and forgettable villain made for an average, middle of the road MCU instalment at best.

Yes, the movie could have been a lot worse, and it did introduce the titular hero as a bad-ass female character, but it should have been so much more.

This standard nerd combines the looks of Shaggy with the brains of Scooby, has an unhealthy obsession with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and is a firm believer that Alter Bridge are the greatest band in the world.
