Scott Snyder's affinity with horror in his writing is well known and perhaps this is most apparent in this incredible scene from A Death in the Family. The Joker, upon removing his own face, comes back for it later.

The problem: it's stored in evidence at the GCPD. What follows is an epic massacre which echoes the darkness of Garth Ennis and the original Terminator movie at the same time. It's a breathtaking return for the Joker, who Snyder had held back in his Batman run until the audience was literally gagging for it and he didn't fail to deliver.

You can cite this moment as evidence in your argument whenever anyone tries to tell you that "comic books are for kids".
